History of Danvers 

In 1886 surveyors had started work on a proposed Watertown road connecting Benson and Appleton with Watertown, SD. By the spring of 1887 the Great Northern had the construction work completed. Two addition towns were platted, with one of those being Danvers. Danvers is a city in sections 13 & 24 of Marysland township. It was named after a village in Massachusetts. The village was incorporated as a village on January 19,1900, but was not separated from the township of Marysland until April 9,1906. Business activity in Danvers has its beginnings in a 12x16 foot store managed by A. N. Matteison. The 1900 Census showed a population of 112 people and about 20 business interests. By 1910 the population was 215.

Danvers Today 

The population was 97 at the 2010 census. According to the 2020 Census, the population was up to 103 people. These small town people now enjoy locally owned business in various industries.
